The Paramedic Course at Gordon Cooper Technology Center is designed for adult students currently certified as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and interested in becoming a Nationally Certified Paramedic. Gordon Cooper's Paramedic program is a Nationally Accredited program that meets the National Registry of EMT's Psychomotor Competency Portfolio requirements. Students who successfully complete or Paramedic program are eligible to take the National Registry's certification examination, a process required for state licensure and employment.
The 1,196 hour (1316 hours with A&P) Paramedic course includes patient assessment, advanced airway management, oxygen therapy, intravenous therapy, cardiology, pharmacology, and reinforces basic EMT skills (anatomy and physiology is a pre-requisite). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) initial certification is included in the tuition fee. A 508-hour clinical internship is also part of the course.
