Computer Network Technology Instructor

 

 Position Summary:  

Responsible for the instruction, operation and general development of the Computer Network Technology Program. Must be able to teach Fundamentals of Technology, Computer Repair and Troubleshooting, Cybersecurity, and Routing and Switching to secondary and adult students. Instructor will assume the lead role for the direction of the program and ensure it meets local industry demands and needs. Serve as the program's BPA advisor.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Eligible for Oklahoma State Department of Education Provisional or Standard Certification. Alternative pathways are available for non-traditional instructors.
  • Possess or working toward industry credentials including A+, Sec+, Net+, and/or CCNA.
  • Three years’ experience within the last five years in computer repair and network support as well as securing, maintaining, and implementing security hardware, software, and policies.
  • High School Diploma

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a computer-related field.
  • Possess some or all of the following certifications:
  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+) or Cloud Essentials
  • Cisco CCNA (Routing & Switching) or CompTIA Network+
  • CompTIA Security+, GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC), or CISSP

 

Essential Processes

  • Responsible for the instruction, operation, and general development of the Computer Network Technology Program
  • Responsible for proper maintenance and upgrades of equipment used in the classroom.
  • Develop curriculum and instructional materials utilizing input from representation of business and industrial groups.
  • Develop a curriculum alignment for program offering illustrating what subject matter should be taught with appropriate hours for both theory and shop/laboratory utilizing input from representation of business and industrial groups.
  • Develop course syllabuses for each course that is to be taught within the curriculum alignment and assist in defining short and long-range educational needs.

      

 

  Maintain follow-up records on former students, and submit required information to Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education when applicable.

  • Prepare, maintain, and submit reports and other documents as required by the Board of Education, Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education, and school district.
  • Validate specific occupations for which the student should be trained for gainful employment.
  • Attend all faculty/staff meetings and other school meetings and functions as required.
  • Participate in the team management process and support the organizational management philosophy of the district.
  • Uphold the policies and procedures of the Board of Education.

 

Competencies:

Proficient in communication and business skills along with technology skills including current business software applications. Must possess the ability to diagnose and repair hardware and software issues for all types of personal computing devices. Knowledge of network administration across all layers of the OSI model. Ability to understand and explain server administration for both physical and virtual environments. Possess basic security management skills including threat identification and mitigation.

 

Must be a self-starter, an independent worker able to work in a team setting with a variety of people and as an individual. Must be able to maintain calm, logical behavior under pressure and in stressful situations. Must be able to effectively deal with clients of differing personality types.  Must be organized and show initiative in accomplishing goals and tasks with and without supervision. Interpersonal skills in dealing with people outside the organization as well as with district employees.  Ability to communicate in a professional manner. Ability to exercise reasoned judgment and discretion in performing tasks. 

 

Maintain a line of communication and work cooperatively with instructors, administration and staff. Maintain professionalism through participation in professional activities. Establish and maintain a close working relationship with the staff at the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education. Develop and maintain contacts with community businesses for the purpose of advisory recommendations and student placement. Identify and assist with placing students on an on-the-job training program.

 

Perform such other professional tasks and assume such other professional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Instruction and/or Superintendent.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly moving equipment weighing up to 30 pounds in the classroom or across campus for various classroom and event needs. The person in this position will occasionally move about inside the lab to access file cabinets, machinery, etc.  The person in this position frequently communicates with students. Must be able

* UPDATED-   Pre-Engineering Academy Instructor – Engineering

Position Summary:
Instructor will teach engineering courses and Project Lead the Way courses.
Participate in the student selection process. Ensure effective evaluation of student achievement. Support the development and integration of technical and academic curricula. Provide classroom instruction as assigned. Develop external partnerships that enhance student learning and access to higher education. Involvement in SkillsUSA/Robotics.

Essential Processes:
• Teach pre-engineering courses and other duties as assigned.
• Develop appropriate curriculum, integrating project-based learning and engineering standards. Ensure effective curriculum integration between academic and career instructors.
• Meet with students, parents, and counselors to ensure appropriate students are placed in Pre-Engineering Academy. Assist in developing academic/career plans, assist in planning for post high school transition, assisting with development of student portfolios, scheduling, relevant tours, and participating in an annual open house.
• Evaluate student achievement by interpreting multiple data sources. This will include participating in an effective evaluation committee and implementing effective evaluation strategies.
• Develop and foster partnerships with external groups that represent business and industry; higher education; communities; sending schools; and civic and professional organizations. Outcomes of these partnerships to include education agreements to provide curriculum alignment and career pathways; opportunities for student mentoring, job shadowing; student scholarships; effective advisory committees; promoting and marketing; and scheduling of speakers.
• Responsible for proper maintenance of equipment used in the classroom.
• Serve as a SkillsUSA/Robotics advisor/mentor.
• Attend Project Lead the Way, AP, or other engineering training as necessary. Specific training sessions will be scheduled through the instructor's supervisor.
• Perform other professional tasks and assume other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Instruction and/or Superintendent.

Required Education and Experience:
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, physics, science, math, secondary education, or related technology field.

Must attend training required to teach Pre-Engineering courses such as Project Lead the Way and/or Advanced Placement courses as well as training on essential program equipment. 

Preferred Education and Experience:
We are seeking candidates who can bring real-world engineering application to the classroom. Consequently, preference is given to applicants with professional engineering experience over those with solely academic or teaching backgrounds.

Technical Qualifications:
• Engineering Proficiency - demonstrate an ability to apply advanced science and engineering knowledge to design and conduct scientific experiments.
• System Design - capability to design systems or processes to meet specific engineering needs.
• Tools & Aptitude - proficiency in using modern engineering tools, techniques, and skills necessary for practice, along with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

• Self-Motivation & Collaboration - must be a self-motivated professional capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a diverse team setting.
• Communication - maintain open lines of communication and work cooperatively with instructors, administration, and staff.

Adjunct Clinical Instructor:
RN with a BSN or ADN. If ADN, must have evidence of continued progress toward a baccalaureate or higher degree in nursing with completion of a minimum of six (6) semester hours per calendar year. Must hold a valid unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oklahoma. Must present evidence of a minimum of two (2) years full-time equivalent practice as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting preceding the first date of first employment as a nursing adjunct faculty member. Hours are variable, Day Shift. Salary: $38.00 per hour.


Substitute Bus Driver
We are searching for a few substitute drivers to assist when drivers out and to cover fieldtrips. Successful applicants should have the following qualifications: Meet or exceed all Oklahoma Department of Public Safety School Bus Driver License Requirements and meet or exceed all Prerequisites for Oklahoma Public School Bus Drivers per the Oklahoma State Department of Education. An individual with 3 years of successful commercial or school bus driver experience is preferred.
substitute drivers who are certified but have no experience will be paid an hourly rate based on the salary schedule for Bus Drivers at step 0, no degree (FY25: $16.84 per hour). Substitutes that are certified and who have experience, may be paid at step 6 ($18.27 per hour) on the Bus Driver salary schedule
