Criminal Justice & Emergency Services

Gordon Cooper Technology Center offers this full-time career pathway to high school juniors and seniors. High School students are eligible to receive math credit for various career majors. Courses are offered from 8:15 to 11:15 AM and 12:55 to 3:55 PM Monday through Friday. A student can choose to attend either the AM or PM session or both sessions. All students must be assessed before entering a career major.
 
Criminal Justice & Emergency Services is designed to acclimate students in the areas of Criminal Justice & Emergency Services. It is also designed to serve as a bridge into higher education and possible employment into this career field.  It is essential that students be able to perform a number of physical activities in the physical fitness portion of the program. All students enrolled and accepted into the Criminal Justice & Emergency Services program will focus on physical fitness throughout the entirety of the program. The program will require the development of hands on custody and control skills, defensive tactics, firefighting techniques, and physical fitness training.
 
 
This is an exploratory two-year course. Students will be introduced to the aspects of Criminal Justice and Emergency Services, in an attempt to further the interest in pursuing a career in these fields.
 
The course is designed to treat all students as young adults, teach responsibility, leadership qualities and teamwork.
 
There is a physical fitness regiment incorporated in the course.
 
Students will have the opportunity to achieve certifications in: C.L.E.E.T I & II,  CPR/BLS, and NIMS/ICS 100. Students will be introduced to physical fitness, class work/academics, in class lectures, hands on activities, fingerprinting, use of force simulator, burn tower, team concepts, guest speakers, and leadership responsibilities.
