Gordon Cooper's Court Reporter program will prepare students for the licensing exam to become an Oklahoma Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR). Reporters are in high demand in Oklahoma and across the nation as official court reporters, freelancers, closed captioners, and Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) reporters. The Department of Labor has projected more than 5,000 vacancies nationwide in the next five years.
This class includes a combination of hands-on machine shorthand practicum, theory, professional reporting practices, internships, live and recorded video, guest speakers, and real world scenarios.
This is an intensive two-year plus vocational program. Ideal candidates should be proficient in English, like to read, have strong concentration and listening skills, and have few outside distractions or additional obligations.
